The New Covenant! The Biggest Blessing That Has Ever Happened To Mankind

October 15, 2020 by ddmionline

Good day People of God in Christ Jesus. You are all welcome to another new day. We thank God for the gift of life.

In our today’s episode 566 of studying and understanding the Bible, we shall be looking into the book of Ezekiel Chapter 36 titled:

The New Covenant! The Biggest Blessing That Has Ever Happened To Mankind

Chapter 36 is still a continuation of Ezekiel’s message from Chapter 35 where judgement was passed against the Edomites for harbouring many centuries of wickedness and they kept on revenging every generation of the Israelites.

As a matter of fact, when the Jews were eventually taken to captivity, these same Edomites took that opportunity to invade and settle on the choicest mountainous parts of the land Judah, including fortresses, so that even if the Jews should by any chance return from their captivity, they will be left with little or nothing to settle on. Read verses 2 – 5.

Having seen this, Prophet Ezekiel prophetically addressed the mountains of Israel in verse 1, having spoken against the mountains of Edom in chapter 35; the prophet promised the people of Israel that they should worry not even though they went into captivity because of their disobedience and worship of idols (verses 16-21), yet God had not stopped loving them. That’s why God promised them great deliverance from their captivity. Read verses 22 – 38.

He promised them that they would be delivered from their foes, their mountains would be restored; trees would grow again on their mountains and those trees would bear fruits and that they would come home soon to settle down in their land. Read verse 8.

God promised them that He would make sure that their land is ploughed, and seeds planted, and those seeds would germinate and bear fruits.

God further promised them that their population that was decimated by various invasions would grow again, even their cattle would increase in number and that their cities would be rebuilt again.

There would be a great deliverance which would be seen by many nations all over the world to the point that people would be saying how did this land, which was once a deserted place now has become like the garden of Eden?

By now, every believer reading this would have known that this is purely a shadow of the New Covenant in Christ.

We must remember that the Old Covenant that many religious leaders are still holding unto was purely established for the ancient national kingdom of Israel – The Jews.

However, the covenant that is now applied to the whole world is the New Covenant, which was mediated by Jesus Christ.

The Old Covenant was formalised on Mount Sinai for the Jews only, while the New Covenant was formalised on Mount Zion (In Christ) and it’s for the as many people as possible that believes.

This is why Acts 4:12 says, you cannot find Salvation anywhere else except in Christ Jesus, because in all the world, there is no one else whom God has given, who can save us. He gave the job to Himself in Christ and He did a perfect job for us.

Just like the Jews were restored from their slavery, everyone that comes to God through Christ, will also be restored from the slavery of sin and satanic oppressions and the Old Covenant lacked the capacity to accomplish this purpose.

Hebrews 8:7 says If there had been nothing wrong with the first covenant, there would have been no need for a second one.

That was why there was need for the New Covenant and that is why all those who operated under the Old Covenant were not saved. Their Salvation or faith became perfected the moment Jesus resurrected. Read Hebrews 11:39 and also Hebrews 12:1-2

Now the question is: under which covenant are you still operating?

1. The Old Covenant, which was formalized for the Jews only on Mount Sinai or

2. The New Covenant, which was formalised for the whole world at Mount Zion (Christ).

As you are pondering over this, I want you to meditate upon the verses below:

22 By contrast, we have already come near to God in a totally different realm, the Zion-realm, for we have entered the city of the Living God, which is the New Jerusalem in heaven! We have joined the festal gathering of myriads of angels in their joyous celebration!

23 And as members of the church of the Firstborn all our names have been legally registered as citizens of heaven! And we have come before God who judges all, and who lives among the spirits of the righteous who have been made perfect in his eyes!

24 And we have come to Jesus who established a new covenant with his blood sprinkled upon the mercy seat; blood that continues to speak from heaven, “forgiveness,” a better message than Abel’s blood that cries from the earth, “justice.”

Hebrews 12:22-24 The Passion Translation

To be continued…stay tuned and stay blessed.

Let us Pray:

Let’s declare this together:

I have come to a place of acceptance through my faith in Christ Jesus. Nothing terrifies me anymore. I am bold and proud of my belief in Christ Jesus. Christ that is living in me is greater than he that is living in the world. Amen!
