Studying and Understanding the Bible – Part 433

June 3, 2020 by ddmionline

Good morning Believers in the finished work of Christ Jesus.
We give glory to God for the gift of another new day in a brand new month, we thank God for the privilege of life and for His unending mercy and grace upon us always. Praise God!

STUDYING AND UNDERSTANDING THE BIBLE – PART 433

Isaiah Chapter 46 concluded.

We learnt yesterday how Prophet Isaiah brilliantly contrasted the capability of Babylonian idols with that of God and concluded both are not comparable.

The reason is because the former (idols) ended up being carried off into captivity while the latter (God), instead of being carried, He is the one carrying His people and bearing our burden to the point of perfecting our eternal Salvation in Christ.

Prophet Isaiah continued from verse 6 by describing the folly of idolatry, worshipping images made with human hands. Let’s read…

Isaiah 46:6-13 TPT
The wealthy pour out their gold, weigh out their silver in the scales, and hire a goldsmith who crafts it into a “god.” Then they bow down before it to worship it.

[7] They lift it up to their shoulders and have to carry it. They set it on a stand, and there it sits, unable to move from its place. When someone cries out to it, it never answers nor saves anyone from trouble.

[8] Keep this in mind and don’t forget it! Take this to heart, you rebels!

[9] Remember the miracles of long ago. Acknowledge that I am God, and there is no other. I am God, and there is none like me.

[10] I declare from the beginning how it will end and foretell from the start what has not yet happened. I decree that my purpose will stand, and I will fulfill my every plan.

We must always remember that God knows the end of everything from the beginning and that He is in total control of the whole situation.

Keeping this in mind will help us in navigating the journey of our life with God successfully.

[11] “I called that bird of prey Cyrus, swooping in from the east; from a distant land he came, the man of my purpose. I have spoken, and yes, I will bring it to pass. I have formed my plan, and yes, I will do it.

Note that the bird of prey mentioned in verse 11 above is no other bird than a Golden Eagle because of its swift (soaring) movement and its capability to feast on meat caught primarily during hunting.

Cyrus possessed this characteristics because he came swiftly from the east to invade Babylon to take over the kingdom and their secret treasures and that’s why he was called a bird of prey (an Eagle).

[12] “Listen to me, you stubborn ones who are far from righteousness.

The audience in verse 12 above is no other person than the Babylonians because of their stubbornness in holding the Israelites captive.

[13] I am bringing my righteousness closer to you; it is not far off. My deliverance will not be delayed, for I will set my salvation in Zion for Israel my glory!

At the end of the day, Prophet Isaiah uses this prophecy to foretell the ultimate Salvation that the Messiah brought to the entire humanity – as many as possible that receive and believe the Message get saved eternally.

To be continued…Praise God.
