He came to save and not to judge

July 4, 2020 by ddmionline

Good day People of God in Christ Jesus. It’s another brand new day.
We give glory to God for the privilege of life and for His unending mercy and grace upon us always. Praise God!

STUDYING AND UNDERSTANDING THE BIBLE – PART 463

Isaiah Chapter 61

Isaiah 61:1-2
[1]The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

[2]To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn.

In the above verses, Prophet Isaiah prophesies about the mission statement of the Messiah.

You will be shocked to discover that Jesus Christ also quoted Isaiah verbatim using the above verses because the declaration was about Him.

Most shocking was the fact that Jesus left out the vengeance part. Let’s read Jesus’ version of the Prophecy.

Luke 4:18-21
[18]The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

[19]To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

[20]And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.

[21]And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

Funny right? Instead of mentioning vengeance, He replaced it with acceptable year of the Lord.

Why did He do that?

The answer is simple…

He came to save and not to judge. Judgement day is still in the future.

We read about many dispensations in the Bible.

👉The dispensation of creation and Eden experience. When man was in cordial relationship with God, the Father until sin sets in.

👉The dispensation of Salvation in the Son (Jesus Christ).

👉The dispensation of regeneration in the Holy Spirit- this is where we are now.

👉The last dispensation is for judgement when those who rejected God’s offer of Salvation will be thrown into hell fire alongside the devil.

This is why Jesus didn’t bother to preach judgement. He focused on His mission – to save lives.

Luke 9:56
[56]For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.

He came to save the whole world – both Jews and Gentiles.

Acts 13:46-49
[46]Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

[47]For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.

[48]And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.
[49]And the word of the Lord was published throughout all the region.

Tomorrow by God’s grace, we will dissect Jesus’ mission statement in verses 1and2.

To be continued…Praise God.

Our prayers for everyone on this platform: By the authority in the name of Jesus Christ,

👉This is your acceptable season. I don’t know what proposal or application you have put forward, but this is what I know: you shall be accepted. No rejection for you, in Jesus name.

👉God’s grace and mercy will always speak for you everywhere you go, in Jesus name.

👉I speak abundance of good things you need for good living, you will not lack any of them, in Jesus name.

Bible readings for today: Luke Chapters 19, 20 & 21 with Ecclesiastes 4

I call you blessed now and always.
