New Message Reveals A Corroded Cooking Pot; What Does This Mean?

October 10, 2020 by ddmionline

Good day Beloved of God in Christ Jesus. You are all welcome to another new day. We thank God for the gift of life.

In our today’s episode 561 of studying and understanding the Bible, we shall be looking into the book of Ezekiel Chapter 24 titled:

New Message Reveals A Corroded Cooking Pot; What Does This Mean?

Prophet Ezekiel received this parable while he was still in exile on the very day King of Babylon was beginning another invasion of Jerusalem. The date was 1oth day of the 10th month of the 9th year in exile, which also corresponds with the ninth year of the reign of King Zedekiah in Jerusalem. Please read 2 Kings 25:1; Jeremiah 39:1 and then Jeremiah 52:1-4 to know more about the events that happened on this day.

Just like his colleague (Jeremiah) was fond of doing, Ezekiel was instructed to get a corroded bronze pot and fill it with the best choices of meat. He was asked to use “Mutton” (meat from Sheep) for this illustration. The meat should include the shoulder, the legs, and the bony parts and then the pot should be filled with water.

Thereafter, he was asked to set fire under the pot to heat it up so that the content could boil to the point that everything would burn up. After burning up the contents, then he was asked to set the empty bronze-pot on a red-hot coal in order to burn off the corrosion in the pot and in this way, the pot will be ritually clean. Ezekiel 24:1-5

Meaning of the parable?

The corroded bronze-pot represents Jerusalem, and the corrosion is their sin. The contents represent different kinds of people in Jerusalem – leaders, followers, soldiers, civilians etc all faced God’s judgement because of their repeated sins. The fire represents God’s judgement that will burn off their filthiness and purify the land.

Again, this is reminding us about what is going to happen on the last day when God’s judgement shall come upon the wicked, who have refused to acknowledged God to be saved.

Hebrews 10:26-27 says,

26 For there is no longer any sacrifice that will take away sins if we purposely go on sinning after the truth has been made known to us.

27 Instead, all that is left is to wait in fear for the coming Judgment and the fierce fire which will destroy those who oppose God!

Good News Translation

The death of Ezekiel’s Wife

The remaining verses 15 – 27 revolves around the prophecy about the death of Ezekiel’s wife, whom he loved so much. The bible was silent about the cause of her death but says it happened suddenly. Again, as usual, it was reported that it was God who killed her – wrong perception of God.

Her death was a figure of speech for the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem which the Jews loved so much. They were always proud of their temple with no regard for God. Their pride and trust were in the physical structure and not in God. This was the reason the temple in Jerusalem was among many prominent structures burnt down during the Babylonian invasion.

To be continued…stay tuned and stay blessed.

Let us pray:

The Lord God will preserve everyone reading this message and keep you safe always. You will not fall into the hand of wicked men, in Jesus name.

By the authority in the name of Jesus, I block any loophole or ladder through which the devil is trying to gain access to your home to foment trouble, every evil plan against you and your family is hereby thwarted, in Jesus name.

The Lord God will continue to fill your mind with the knowledge of His Word for you to keep on growing in Him, reaching your maximum potential in Christ Jesus.
