STUDYING AND UNDERSTANDING THE BIBLE – PART 405
Isaiah Chapter 37
Yesterday we learnt about the threat of the King of Assyria (Sennacherub) against the King of Judah (King Hezekiah) and his people. He ranted and boasted through his spokes person and Hezekiah’s officials had no other choice but to take the report to the King.

Isaiah 36:22 TPT So the three officials of Hezekiah-Eliakim, son of Hilkiah, the palace administrator; Shebna, the scribe; and Joah, son of Asaph the secretary-came to Hezekiah with their clothes torn as a sign of despair and reported what the Assyrian commander had said.

So, how did Hezekiah react?
He simply sought the Lord’s help in prayers.
Isaiah 37:1[1]And it came to pass, when king Hezekiah heard it, that he rent his clothes, and covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of the LORD.
That was their custom in those days. It’s different now under New Covenant reality. You don’t have to put on sack clothes before God can hear your prayers.

Anywhere you may be located, simply connect your heart and Spirit with God, your Father and pray to Him.
You can also seek the help of other Believers to join you in collective prayers of faith. Hezekiah joined forces with Prophet Isaiah to seek the Lord’s help.

See Isaiah’s response to him.
Isaiah 37:6-7[6]And Isaiah said unto them, Thus shall ye say unto your master, Thus saith the LORD, Be not afraid of the words that thou hast heard, wherewith the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.
[7]Behold, I will send a blast upon him, and he shall hear a rumour, and return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.

This is what we will be doing this coming Friday vigil. Joining forces together to wage spiritual battles in prayers.
Pay attention to what Isaiah said about fear. He said they shouldn’t be afraid of Sennacherub’s threats. They should rather focus on the victory that God has given them already.

Fear is an opposite of faith. When you entertain fear and allow it to ravage your heart, you are simply opening doors for the devil to operate.
This is why each time you see an angelic visitation or when God wants to speak to His people about any issue in the Bible, the first statement you hear is fear not or do not be afraid.

Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Luke 1:13[13]But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.

Also to Mary…in Luk 1:30[30]And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.
We want to let people understand that even right there in the corner of your room, God is there and when you declare anything in prayers, He will answer you.

After many more threats from Sennacherub, Isaiah presented the letter to the Lord.
Isaiah 37:14[14]And Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up unto the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD.
Beloved, concerning that matter, you just have to allow God handle it. You can’t help yourself and you can’t help God. Hands off and let God act on your behalf.

Let’s read more of Isaiah’s prophecies as a response to Hezekiah’s answered prayers…

Isaiah 37:30-35 TPT”Hezekiah, this will be a sign for you: This year you will eat only grain that grows of itself. Next year you will eat what comes of that. Then, in the third year, life will be normal again. You will sow and reap, plant vineyards and eat their fruit.
[31] Judah’s remnant will flourish again, sending deep roots into the ground and bearing luscious fruit above,
[32] for a remnant will go out from Mount Zion and Jerusalem. The fiery passion of Yahweh, Commander of Angel Armies, will accomplish this!
Note: The above is a prophetic and figurative expression for Salvation and restoration of God’s people.
[33] “Therefore, here is what I, Yahweh, have to say about the king of Assyria: He will neither enter this city, nor shoot even one arrow here, nor raise a warrior’s shield, nor build a siege ramp against Jerusalem.
[34] I declare that by the way he came, by that same way he will leave. He will not set foot in the city.
[35] I promise to defend this city and protect it, for the sake of my own honor and for the sake of David, my loving servant.”

To be continued…
