Studying and Understanding the Bible – Part 410

May 11, 2020 by ddmionline

Good morning Saints in Christ Jesus.
We give glory to God for the gift of another new day, we thank God for the privilege of life and for His unending mercy and grace upon us always. Praise God!

Isaiah Chapter 40

Following the entire teachings on the book of Isaiah so far, you will all observe that Chapters 1 till 39 are predominantly filled with message of judgement.

However, beginning at Chapter 40 till Chapter 66, you will begin to notice a big twist or change of tone in the way and manner that Prophet Isaiah was communicating to the people. The remaining Chapters were predominantly filled with the message of hope and restoration.

After King Hezekiah had mistakenly exposed the entire Kingdom to foreign invaders, it displeased Prophet Isaiah and he ended Chapter 39 with the prophecy that Judah would be taken captive to Babylon in the future.

Let’s read the judgement again.

Isaiah 39:6-7 TPT
[6] ‘The days are coming when all the treasures in your palace and all the wealth that your ancestors have stored up until this day will be carried off to Babylon; absolutely nothing will be left,’ says the Lord.

[7] ‘Some of your own sons who come after you will be deported, be castrated, and become eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.'”

You will agree with me that the whole land would have been devastated and emotionally down upon hearing about what would befall them in the nearest future, simply because of a costly mistake of their King.

Anyone living in sin is simply giving the devil a fertile land to operate and such life can be manipulated in any form and eventually end up being destroyed.

Fortunately for the people of Judah, God instructed Prophet Isaiah to go back and comfort the people and let them know that even though there would be consequences for their mistakes (according to the judgement already pronounced), yet He would bring them restoration in the future.

And ultimately, this Chapter and many other Chapters that we will read later present us in a figurative way the Message of Salvation that brings redemption of men from sin and reuniting them back to God.

Let’s read a few of them…

Isaiah 40:1-5
[1]Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.

[2]Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the LORD’S hand double for all her sins.

Note: it means debt of sin has been paid for, and those who believe and receive this gift of forgiveness (deliverance brought by Christ), will not be treated as guilty anymore.

God instructed Isaiah to prophesy further that those who believe have received from the hand of God twice as many blessings as all their sins. It will then appear as if nothing happened…slate wiped clean. That’s how powerful the blood of Jesus is. It’s once and for all. We must always speak these words of comfort even to the worst sinners letting them know about what God has done for them in Christ so they can brought into the family of God.

[3]The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

Note: This is exactly what John the Baptist came to present in Mark 1:3 when he quoted Isaiah 40.

Apostle John also made reference to the ministry of John The Baptist who came to present the Messiah to the world according to John 1:6-9. Also read John 14:6

[4]Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:

[5]And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

Note: All flesh means both Jews and Gentiles – meaning every inhabitant on earth.

Apostle Paul taught about this in his Epistles also. Let’s read Romans 8:18-19

To be continued…Praise God.

Our Prayers for everyone on this platform:

👉The glory of the Lord shall continually be revealed in the lives of everyone reading this message from any part of the globe, in Jesus name.

👉For any good thing you have lost, the Lord God will give you double blessings, in Jesus name.

👉As many people as possible that are yet to experience the New Life offered by God in Christ, may God continue to flood their minds with His Light of the Gospel that we preach and teach, until they all come into the full knowledge of what God has done for them and totally believe and receive it, in Jesus name.

Bible readings for today: The Book of Ruth Chapters 1, 2, 3 & 4 with Proverbs 23:1-18
