Studying and Understanding the Bible – Part 438

The Prenatal description of the Messiah and His Assignment To Both The Jews and Gentiles.

Good day Saints in Christ Jesus.
We give glory to God for the gift of another new day, we thank God for the privilege of life and for His unending mercy and grace upon us always. Praise God!

Isaiah Chapter 49

This Chapter is purely a prophetic declaration about the Messiah addressed to the distant lands (Gentiles).

He says, you isles/coastland/distant lands, hearken to me…

Let’s read some verses about this…

Isaiah 49:1-6
[1]Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name.

This prophecy was fulfilled in the Gospels. Let’s read some of them…

Luke 1:35 KJV
And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

Also this…
John 1:14 KJV
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Let’s continue with Isaiah 49…

[2]And he hath made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand hath he hid me, and made me a polished shaft; in his quiver hath he hid me;

Note that the writer of Hebrew wrote about this also in Heb 4:12 KJV
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

John wrote about him too in Rev. 1:16-17 KJV
And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp two-edged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.

[17] And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last…

Now back to Isaiah 49.

[3]And said unto me, Thou art my servant, O Israel, in whom I will be glorified.

Note that Matthew quoted the above statement as well in Matthew 12:18 KJV
Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.

[4]Then I said, I have laboured in vain, I have spent my strength for nought, and in vain: yet surely my judgment is with the LORD, and my work with my God.

[5]And now, saith the LORD that formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, Though Israel be not gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength.

Note: the above reference was quoted too in Matt 23:37 KJV
O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!

Also this…
Romans 11:25 KJV
For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

From Apostle Paul…in 2Corinthians 3:14 KJV
But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.

[6]And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.

Let’s sum it up…

👉Isaiah prophesied about the coming of the Messiah (Christ), even before He was born.

👉He revealed God’s Salvation plan to his audience (both Jews and Gentiles).

👉In their foolishness, they didn’t take him serious, but were busy with Idolatry (the gods they could see and touch).

👉Those who claimed to know God among their religious leaders already missed the road and leading people astray. That’s why when Jesus came in person, they rejected Him.

The highest form of discouragement He faced among His people. But then, He took solace in God who sent Him on that assignment.

Isaiah 49:4-5 TPT
I said, “I’ve worked and served for nothing. I have used up all my strength for nothing.” Yet my rights I leave in Yahweh’s hands, and my just reward is with my God.

[5] And now, the Lord Yahweh- who shaped me in the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob’s tribes back to him that Israel would be gathered back to himself, for I am honored in the sight of Yahweh. I find the source of all my strength in my God.

To be continued…Praise God.
