The Acceptance of the Gentiles into the family of believers

STUDYING AND UNDERSTANDING THE BIBLE – PART 472

Isaiah Chapter 65

This is a very serious and touching Chapter talking about the hypocrisy of the Jews and the acceptance of the Gentiles into God’s family, because the Gentiles heard the Message and they believed.

Let’s read a few verses…

Isaiah 65:1-7 TPT
“I revealed myself to those who didn’t even ask to know me. Those who did not seek me found me. I said to a nation that did not call on my name, ‘Here I am! Here I am! I will help you!’

[2] Day after day I have graciously outstretched my hands to a people who turned their backs to me, whose way of life is corrupt, who insist on going their own way.

[3] They are a people who continually insult me to my face. They openly and defiantly offer sacrifices to their gods in their sacred groves and burn incense on pagan altars.

[4] They sit inside tombs and spend the night in secret caves. They eat pork and their pots are polluted with the broth of unclean meat.

[5] They tell others, ‘Stay away! Don’t come near; I’m too holy for you to touch.’ These people are like a stench in my nostrils, a smoldering fire that doesn’t go out!

[6] Their verdict is determined before me, and I will not keep silent: ‘I will repay them for what they have done; I will pay them back for what their sins deserve.

[7] for both their sins and the sins of their fathers. Because they burned incense on the high places and blasphemed me on the hills, I will punish them severely, as their actions deserve,'” says Yahweh.

For you to understand the above verses properly, let’s look at how Apostle Paul elaborated it in his Epistle to the Romans.

Romans 10:16-21 TPT
But not everyone welcomes the good news, as Isaiah said: Lord, is there anyone who hears and believes our message?

[17] Faith, then, is birthed in a heart that responds to God’s anointed utterance of the Anointed One.

[18] Can it be that Israel hasn’t heard the message? No, they have heard it, for: The voice has been heard throughout the world, and its message has gone to the ends of the earth!

[19] So again I ask, didn’t Israel already understand that God’s message was for others as well as for themselves? Yes, they certainly did understand, for Moses was the first to state it: “I will make you jealous of a people who are ‘nobodies.’ And I will use people with no understanding to provoke you to anger.”

[20] And Isaiah the fearless prophet dared to declare: “Those who found me weren’t even seeking me. I manifested myself before those who weren’t even asking to know me!”

[21] Yet regarding Israel Isaiah says: “With love I have held out my hands day after day, offering myself to this unbelieving and stubborn people!”

Note that the Jews heard the Message and they pretended to be religious and following the law but it was all lies, but then the Gentiles, who didn’t even know God initially later heard the Gospel and they believed.

That’s exactly what Jesus meant when He gave a parable of a Father and His two sons.

Matthew 21:28-32 TPT
Jesus said to his critics, “Tell me what you think of this parable: “There once was a man with two sons. The father came to the first and said, ‘Son, I want you to go and work in the vineyard today.’

[29] The son replied, ‘I’d rather not.’ But afterward, he deeply regretted what he said to his father, changed his mind, and decided to go to the vineyard.

[30] The father approached the second son and said the same thing to him. The son replied, ‘Father, I will go and do as you said.’ But he never did-he didn’t go to the vineyard.

[31] Tell me now, which of these two sons did the will of his father?” They answered him, “The first one.” Jesus said, “You’re right. For many sinners, tax collectors, and prostitutes are going into God’s kingdom realm ahead of you!

[32] John came to show you the path of goodness and righteousness, yet the despised and outcasts believed in him, but you did not. When you saw them turn, you neither repented of your ways nor believed his words.”

To be continued…Praise God.
