This Is To Prove That God Is A God Of Another Chance

December 10, 2020 by ddmionline

Greetings to you all greatly beloved of God and welcome to another episode of our study of the Scriptures. We bless the name of the Lord God for His many blessings over us. Praise be to God!

In our today’s episode 615, we shall be examining Chapter 3 of the book of Jonah titled:

This Is To Prove That God Is A God Of Another Chance

Chapter 3 is a clear and practical explanation of what happens when God is not done with you yet.

God was not done with Prophet Jonah yet and that is why he was given another chance to go and preach to the people of Nineveh.

In the same vein, God was not done with the people of Nineveh too which gives us the reason they were offered another opportunity to hear the Gospel.

To walk through the entire city to preach, it would take Jonah a whole three days, because the city was about 97Km in circumference.

So, Jonah took up the task and preached.

If you notice the tone of his message, he did not intend to give them room for repentance, neither was he ready to plead with them to change their ways. He simply wanted to obey God.

He simply said: in forty days, Nineveh would be destroyed…” read verse 4.

Even with this method, the residents of the city still believed in God. They were caught to the heart and realized their sins.

So, they decided that everyone should fast and all the people, from the least to the greatest put on sackcloth to prove that they had repented.

Even the king too obeyed and took off his royal robe, put on sackcloth and sat down in ashes.

He sent out orders across the city that no one must eat anything. The order was so powerful that even animals participated in the fast.

So, they all fasted and prayed to God and gave up their wicked behaviours and evil actions.

Then in verse 9, the Bible says God saw what they did. God knew their heart that they had genuinely repented and as a result, the city of Nineveh was saved from the impending calamity.

Wow! What an amazing and loving God.

Dear readers, What does that teach us?

This is to prove to everyone of us that our God is a God of love and He is a God of the whole universe, who is not willing that anyone should perish but should come to repentance and be saved. 2Peter 3:9

The same provision He made for the Jews, He also made for the Gentile nations. Remember Nineveh was not a Jewish nation and yet God was very much interested in their salvation as much as He was interested in the salvation of the Jews. Read Romans 4:23-25

That’s why John 3:16 says For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him may not die but have eternal life. Good News Translation

To be continued…stay tuned and stay blessed.

Let’s pray:

I declare that the Lord God will coordinate circumstances to arrest the hearts of as many people as possible in your family, place of work, school, neighbourhood or even in your prayer list that have not yet known God through Christ and may God give them a heart of repentance and faith in the Word of God that will usher in salvation into their lives, in Jesus name.

I declare, may we not behave like Jonah who was not willing that the people of Nineveh should be saved but wanted them to perish. Rather, may we receive the capacity to love everyone just as God loves the entire human race, in Jesus name.

I want to pray with someone reading this message, in any way the devil might have been trying to frustrate any of your dreams you have been trying to achieve before now, I declare you are victorious, and every obstacle begin to give way, right now, in Jesus name.

I call you blessed now and always.
