Your Sins Are Showing, What Would You Do Now?

October 8, 2020 by ddmionline

Good day People of God in Christ Jesus. You are all welcome to another new day. We thank God for the gift of life.

In our today’s episode 559 of studying and understanding the Bible, we shall be looking into the book of Ezekiel Chapter 22 titled:

Your Sins Are Showing, What Would You Do Now?

In Ezekiel Chapter 22, we can see how Prophet Ezekiel listed various atrocities being committed by the people of Jerusalem, which they have refused to repent from.

The list was a long one and then in from verse 17, Prophet Ezekiel began to announce judgement over them which he represented with a huge furnace and the people were likened to copper, tin, iron and lead ready to be thrown into that furnace.

If we are to interpret this under New Covenant reality, we will be talking about God’s judgement on the last day.

Did you know that many people are still repeating all the items in the above list today and even committing more terrible ones? The level of decadence we see today is alarming and requires urgent actions to help people come back to God.

Even some believers are not helping matter. We cannot differentiate them from unbelievers. The fruits they produce do not align with those listed in Galatians 5:22-26

I was listening to a very popular Nigerian Pastor preaching one day and he said something remarkable in one of his teaching series that: “sin in the old testament is still sin in the new testament. For example, he said fornication in the old testament has not become fruit of the Spirit in the New Covenant.” He was advising his listeners to stop living anyhow.

I completely agree with him. The truth is sin has not died as some preachers have claimed; it remains sin. We must therefore be careful of hyper-grace preachers preaching in such a way as to encourage people to continue living in sin calling it weakness.

The truth is, if you do not tame your weakness by constantly looking into the mirror of God’s Word and allowing it carry out all the necessary changes required for you to become matured in Christ, then you are still deceiving yourself claiming to be a believer, because you have not believed a single thing.

Do human beings have weaknesses?

Absolutely yes and it varies from persons to persons. However, living in sin and calling it your weakness and claiming the grace of God has covered you, you are simply deceiving yourself. You are yet to know God.

So, what is the way out?

Just like we studied in our yesterday’s post, we must allow the Word of God perform its divine purpose in our lives.

Our mind must be renewed by the Word on daily basis and we must be consistent and decisive in studying the Word.

The following teachings of Apostle Paul will help us.

1 Cor 9:27 (talking about self-discipline to avoid disqualification in service.

Romans 7:24 (In this verse, although Paul was already forgiven and freed from the slavery to sin, but needed mind renewal to be set free from the desire to sin which is the flesh he was putting on, which Christ did for him as he constantly looked into the mirror of God’s Word. What happened to Paul in this verse was what usually happens to new converts growing in the Faith. Sometimes they rise and fall again, but that does mean they were not saved. If they keep on studying the Word and allowing it to renew their minds, it will definitely lead to spiritual maturity. Read Romans 12:1-2

To be continued…stay tuned and stay blessed.

Let us pray:

  • By the authority in the name of Jesus, I declare your mind is renewed to conform to God’s will and purpose for your life, in Jesus name.
  • Begin to engage your mind and proffer creative solutions to solve the problems of your generation. Begin to dominate, take charge and produce good fruits that have eternal benefits, in Jesus name.
  • I declare every loophole the devil is looking for to afflict you and your family is hereby blocked by the power in the name of Jesus.
